3d 4d Scans
3-D ultrasound can provide us with a 3 dimensional image of what we are scanning. Parents will now be able to see in detail the features of the fetus that were previously difficult to appreciate in two dimensions. 4D simply means a 3D scan with the added dimension of motion as in a film or video. The Voluson®730 scanner shows in minute detail the activities and even the facial expressions of the baby within the womb. This type of scan is thought to have an important catalytic effect for mothers to bond to their babies before birth.
The scan is best performed at 26/32 weeks but can sometimes be done earlier.
We routinely start with a fetal well being scan to make sure the pregnancy is progressing normally and this is followed up with a printed report.
We will then record approximatly 15 minutes 3d/4d scanning of your baby on DVD and provide images on CD. Thermal pictures are also supplied.
It may be difficult to obtain good images due to the babies position and we may need to ask you to go for a short walk to encourage the baby to move around.
If we are unable to obtain a satisfactory result at your initial appointment we will offer you another appointment at no extra cost.
